MICROWATE® 4.6 weighting material is ilmenite powder produced through a special grinding process, used to increase the density of drilling fluids. Compared with barite, its main features include specific gravity of approximately 4.6, average particle size D50 of only 5 microns, and its sphericity and roundness are close to perfect, with weak magnetism. These characteristics enable the drilling fluid formulated with MICROWATE® 4.6 to maintain relatively low rheology and lower equivalent circulating density, reducing the risk of sedimentation, which is more conducive to the drilling of extended reach wells or ultra-long horizontal wells, and also beneficial for reservoir protection.
