BENSUS^® suspension agent is an organophilic amino-attapulgite which controls the settling of solids in oil-based drilling fluids. BENSUS^® suspension agent's unique rheological structure suspends weighting materials and other solids with less increase in viscosity and gel strength than conventional bentonite or hectorite based organoclays. This allows the formulation of low viscosity muds with undiminished penetration rates and cutting removal.  BENSUS^® suspension agent can be used alone or in conjunction with conventional organoclays. The solids suspension capacity of a fluid which is already thickened with an organoclay can be increased by the addition of BENSUS^®, without substantially increasing the viscosity of the system.

Applications/Functions

• Conditioning mud before storage and transportation
• Controls settling in diesel without the use of other additives
• Reduces the syneresis or separation of oil from fluids stored without agitation

• A typical treatment range is 1-5 ppb. Pilot tests are recommended to optimize performance prior to use.
