BLACKTEMP^® II sulfonated phenol formaldehyde resin is a cation exchange resin designed for extreme temperature drilling environments and salt-gypsum formation to provide effective HPHT filtration control. The special molecular structure of BLACKTEMP^® II features and highly sulfonated which deliver exceptional high temperature stability and super-hydrophilic property. This top-level product serves as primary filtration control agent for BLACKTEMP^® II HPHT WBM. It performs well in all water-based drilling fluids and specially in saturated brine with thermal stable up to 400°F. In the extreme temperature field application, it is recommended to use BLACKTEMP^® II in combination with BLACKFLO^® sulfonated lignite to obtain best performance.

Applications/Functions

• Effective HPHT filtration control agent, core product of BLACK SHARK^® HPHT water-based mud system
• Functions in fresh water, seawater, saturated brine, as well as formate brine mud
• Ideal product when use in deep, ultradeep, high to extreme temperature wells and salt-gypsum formation

Advantages

• Temperatures stable up to 400°F in saturated brine fluids
• Improves filter cake quality by reducing its thickness and permeability
• Does not increase viscosity because of small molecular weight
