MICROWATE® 4.8 is a high-performance weighting agent made from manganese dioxide used in drilling fluids and completion fluids to increase density. Compared with barite, its unique features are: specific gravity of approximately 4.8, average particle size only 1 micron, particles with nearly perfect sphericity, and hardness is 1.5 times of barite. These characteristics enable the drilling fluid formulated with MICROWATE® 4.8 to maintain relatively low rheology and lower equivalent circulating density, reducing the risk of sedimentation, which is beneficial for extended reach wells or ultra-long horizontal wells drilling, especially in ultra-deep wells and high-temperature wells, and also conducive to reservoir protection.
