NEOTHIN® thinner is used to reduce rheological properties of all oil-based drilling fluids that contains large amount of colloidal solids. It reduces viscosity and gel strength through the action of macromolecules which disperse solids in the mud without the need for dilution or changing the oil/water ratio when volume increases are undesirable. Pilot testing is recommended prior to treating the system in order to determine the required concentration and effectiveness of NEOTHIN® additive. CAUTION: Overtreatment can cause drastic reduction in LSRV values (6-and 3-RPM readings) and gel strengths that can be difficult to recover or increase afterwards.
