SHARKSTAR® PLUS carboxymethyl starch is an anionic starch ether product. Compared with pre-gelatinized starch, SHARKSTAR® PLUS has higher water solubility and stronger chemical stability. SHARKSTAR® PLUS can maintain long-term stable fluid loss control in high-salt and high-temperature drilling conditions up to 250°F. But not resistant to high calcium and magnesium ions. SHARKSTAR® PLUS can increase viscosity, is soluble in cold water, and forms a transparent viscous solution. It can be used as a thickener and stabilizer in most water-based drilling fluid systems, especially in saturated saltwater drilling fluids and low-solid-phase drilling fluids.
