Product Description

G-BLOK® 400 lost circulation material (LCM) is high-resiliency graphite that provide enhanced bridging and sealing of nature and induced fractures in 400 μm averaged particle size. It allows tightly packed particles under compression in fractures and pores to expand or contact without being dislodged or collapsed due to changes in differential pressures. The bridging ability of this product makes it effective when drilling depleted zones, where high differential pressure increases sticking tendency. It can be also used to control seepage in partial- to-severe lost circulation zones. G-BLOK® is available in five particle size ranges: 25, 50, 100, 400, 1000. The number reflects the nominal median particle size (D50) of the product.

Applications/Functions
 
  • Lost circulation treatment for pore plugging and small induced and natural fractures
  • Prevent seepage losses when used as a background material
  • Control seepage losses, thereby reducing the possibility of differential sticking
  • Reduce torque and drag when used in water-based drilling fluids

Recommended Treatment
 
  • Add15-20 ppb as a background concentration for seepage and lost circulation control
  • Add 20-50 ppb for partial losses or in conjunction with other LCMs when drill permeable formations
  • Add 10 ppb as lubricity spot and sweeps for torque and drag reduction
